“Everything was explained fully to me with great care and consideration.”

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a technique for taking pictures of the body without using x-rays.

The equipment used, known as a scanner, generates very clear, high quality pictures of structures such as the heart, brain, joints and internal organs.

These images produced by combining the effects of magnetic fields on the hydrogen within your body, together with a sophisticated computer system, are then viewed on a computer monitor or transferred onto a CD and carefully examined by our Doctors.

Because of the strong magnetic field strength used,
MRI is not suitable for everyone.

MRI is not suitable for anyone with:
• A Cardiac Pacemaker
• Neural stimulators
• Cochlear implants
• Certain types of body implants
• Certain types of body piercing
• Certain types of aneurysm clips
• First trimester of pregnancy.

If you are unsure whether the list applies to you, please contact us directly or speak to your doctor.

Depending on the type of scan you are having, you may need to refrain from having any food or drink containing caffeine. If in doubt please call us for advice.
